Our Focus is Food!
At Storrs Farmers Market, our focus is food. We strive to provide the highest quality, locally-grown and -produced foods for our community. Our farmers and vendors take great pride in their work, and it shows!
Our farmers and vendors are happy to help you select the perfect varietal or to offer recipe suggestions. If you have a question about the foods or growing methods, be sure to ask the farmer - one of the benefits of buying your food directly from the farmer is knowing your foods' origins.
Storrs Farmers Market is a certified farmers market, which means that everything at the Market is grown or produced here in Connecticut. In fact the average distance from farm to Market is about 10 miles!
a brief history
Storrs Farmers Market was founded in 1994 as part of an initiative of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Storrs, Connecticut. The Market enjoyed many years in its location behind the church.
In 2006, Storrs Farmers Market struck out on its own, became an independent entity, and briefly moved to E. O. Smith High School. In 2008, the Market settled at its current location at the Mansfield Town Hall. (Storrs is a village within the Town of Mansfield.)
That same year saw the beginning of Storrs Winter Farmers Market, an extension of the regular Market, which has become a popular destination for locally-grown foods and is now open twice a month.
Thank you to our Sponsors!
Storrs Farmers Market is grateful for the generous support of our Sponsors, many of which are local, independently-owned businesses. Please let these businesses know that you appreciate their support of local farming families!
